Charity Completes the Gospel

2 Peter 1 (King James Version)

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

There are believers who are knowledgeable in the letter of the law but lacking the charity in practicing the Spirit of the law. The texts above concludes that all who had come to an understanding of truth must speak, preach, live the truth lovingly and for the sake of charity. Thereby practicing what they preach!

The pharisees were learned but lack grace. The sadducees were strict but lack sympathy. The zealots were activists but lack compassion. Only Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Lawgiver lives both the letter and the spirit of His Father’s law. Justice and mercy combined. Law and love together abounds.

I thank you all for joining yesterday’s Sabbath meeting. I hope to see you again next Saturday. I did learn many things. I also learned that the most effective method to reach others is the gospel of charity. Pray, study, teach, lead, share, learn, and love.

If we cannot be loving the gospel is lacking.

Sincerely in the Blessed Hope.
