Genesis 32:26 KJV, “And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.”
Jeremiah 30:7 KJV, “Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.”
Daniel 12:1 KJV, “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”
Here are 7 Keys to Victory and to Prevail with God during the time of trouble. All points taken from the Spirit of Prophecy The Great Controversy vol 4, 1884, pp 433-435:
1 Make every effort to put yourself in a proper light and disarm prejudice and avert danger which threatens liberty of conscience.
2 Seek God’s mercy and press on earnest, unceasing, and humble prayer.
3. Power only comes from humiliation, repentance, and self-surrender.
4. Prevail in prayer with God and you can prevail in prayer with men.
5. Hold fast to the promises of the Lord, steadfast in faith, and confidence in the love of God.
6 Do not turn from your purpose and by determination fulfill it to the very end. Never let go till the blessing is experienced.
7 Gain assurance of forgiveness and put your whole trust in the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
“Jacob was driven almost to despair; but he knew that without help from Heaven he must perish. He had sincerely repented of his great sin, and he appealed to the mercy of God. He would not be turned from his purpose, but held fast the Angel, and urged his petition with earnest, agonizing cries, until he prevailed. Heavenly messengers were sent to move upon Esau’s heart, and his purpose of hatred and revenge was changed to fraternal affection.” p. 435.
In the time of great trouble let us not be fearful of what men can do to us but let us be hopeful of what God can do in us.
Sincerely in the Blessed Hope.
